2023 Matric Exams Week 1 Papers

The official South African school-leaving examinations, which the government conducts, are called the “matric exams.” Students in their senior year of high school, typically in grade 12, are often called “matriculants,” or more informally, “matrics.”

The National Senior Certificate (NSC) has recorded 900,000 matric learners who are now writing their final school exams.

According to the timetable, the exams started Monday 31 October 2023 and will end on Tuesday 06 December 2023.

Matric Exams Week 1 Papers

The scheduled matric exams, time and dates are as follows;

Tuesday Moring: 9 AM

  • Economics Paper 1 (2hrs)

Tuesday Afternoon: 2 PM

  • Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin, Modern Greek, Serbian, Spanish SAL Paper 1 (2hrs)
  • Latin SAL Paper 1 (3hrs)
  • Portuguese HL, FAL, SAL Paper 1 (2hrs)

Wednesday Morning: 9 AM

  • Afrikaans HL Paper 1 (2hrs)
  • Afrikaans FAL Paper 1 (2hrs)
  • Afrikaans SAL Paper 1 (2hrs)

Wednesday Afternoon: 2 PM

  • Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telegu, Urdu HL Paper 2 (2½hrs)
  • Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telegu, Urdu FAL Paper 2 (2hrs)
  • Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telegu, Urdu SAL Paper 2 (2hrs)
  • Hebrew SAL Paper 2 (2hrs)
  • German HL Paper 2 (2½hrs), SAL Paper 2 (2hrs)

Thursday Morning: 9 AM

  • History Paper 1 (3hrs)

Thursday Afternoon: 2 PM

  • Engineering Graphics and Design Paper 1 (3hrs)

Friday Morning: 9 AM

  • Mathematics Paper 1 (3hrs)
  • Mathematical Literacy Paper 1 (3hrs)
  • Technical Mathematics Paper 1 (3hrs)

Friday Afternoon: 2 PM

  • Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin, Modern Greek,
  • Serbian, Spanish SAL Paper 2 ( (2hrs)
  • Latin SAL P2 (1½hrs)
  • Portuguese HL Paper 2 ( (2½hrs), FAL, SAL Paper 2 ( (2hr)
  • Equine Studies (3hrs)
