So you wanted to study in 2024/2025, but missed out? Would you still like to study in 2024/2025? You have a second chance with 2nd-semester applications you don’t have to wait until NEXT year to apply to study.
However, you need to take note that you may miss certain courses if you apply in the 2nd semester. Also, you may have to consider choosing a college or university that isn’t your first choice as not all institutions offer second-semester applications.

Second Semester Intake 2024/2025
Straight from the mouth of the Department of Higher Education and Training to you, check out the following institutions you can apply to:
Central University of Technology (Free State): If there is space in some engineering programmes, they will publicise this on their website in March/April. The closing date for applications is the end of May.
Durban University of Technology (KZN): National Diploma in Surveying and two engineering programmes are open to applications for the 2nd semester. Apply at www.cao.ac.za
Mangosuthu University of Technology (KZN): National Diploma and Access courses in Analytical Chemistry, Surveying and various branches of Engineering are possible second-semester study options. Apply at www.cao.ac.za by 30 May.
Nelson Mandela University (Eastern Cape): Limited number of programmes have second-semester intake. The closing date for applications is 30 May.
Tshwane University of Technology (Gauteng): Selected programmes have second-semester intake. The closing date for this is 15 May.
Vaal University of Technology (Gauteng): They usually offer second-semester entry in Science, Engineering, and Technology.
University of Cape Town (Western Cape): They also offer selected courses of study in the 2nd semester.
UNISA (Study wherever you are): Apply online between 3 and 28 April for second-semester admission. No late applications are considered. Or apply in good time for admission and funding for 2024/2025.
