The Sasol Bursary Programme is a fully funded initiative aimed at supporting talented South African students pursuing full-time studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Applications for the 2025 academic year are currently open and will close on 18 May 2025.

Bursary Coverage
The bursary offers comprehensive financial and developmental support, including:
- Registration and tuition fees
- Book allowance
- Accommodation and meal allowances
- Once-off computer and calculator allowance
- Monthly stipend
Upon successful completion of studies, recipients may be considered for employment within the Sasol Group through their Graduate Development Programmes
Eligibility Criteria
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Currently in Grade 12 or have completed Matric within the past year
- Accepted or provisionally accepted to study full-time at a public university or university of technology in South Africa (excluding UNISA)
- Not using Technical Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy
- Combined household income of less than R600,000 per annum
- Under 25 years old
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
- For BEng/BSc applicants:
- Minimum Level 6 (70–79%) in Mathematics and Physical Science
- Minimum Level 5 (60–69%) in English First Additional Language or Home Language
- For BEng Tech applicants:
- Minimum Level 5 (60–69%) in Mathematics and Physical Science
- Minimum Level 5 (60–69%) in English First Additional Language or Home Language
Fields of Study
The bursary supports undergraduate degrees (no diplomas) in the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Chemistry (up to Honours level)
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Science
- Data Science (Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics)
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Geology (up to Honours level)
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy (up to Honours level)
- Mining Engineering
- Mine Surveying (BEng Tech)
Postgraduate bursaries are available for M.Sc., M.Eng., and Ph.D. studies in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

- Visit the Sasol Bursaries Portal.
- Register and activate your account.
- Log in and select the appropriate bursary application (Undergraduate or Postgraduate).
- Complete all required fields and upload necessary documents.
- Submit your application before 18 May 2025.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified copy of latest academic results (Grade 11 for current matriculants)
- Proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance at a public university or a university of technology
- Comprehensive CV
