What “Bachelor Pass” Means in Matric Results

In your matric (Grade 12) results, a “Bachelor’s Pass” (also known as a Bachelor’s Degree Pass) means you have met the minimum requirements to apply for a Bachelor’s degree at a university. It’s the highest level of pass you can achieve in your matric results, above a Diploma Pass and a Higher Certificate Pass.

Requirements for a Bachelor’s Pass

  • At least 40% in your Home Language.
  • At least 50% in four subjects from the designated list of subjects (like Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Business Studies, etc.).
  • At least 30% in two other subjects.
  • You must pass at least six subjects in total.

A Bachelor’s Pass is essential because it gives you direct access to university studies for degree programs.

PLEASE NOTE:

It is important to remember that universities and specific degree programs might have unique requirements. So, even if you meet the Bachelor’s Pass criteria, some programs may ask for higher marks in certain subjects or have additional requirements. But don’t worry—this just means it’s a good idea to check the requirements of the courses you’re interested in and make sure you’re on the right track!
