How Much Does Nsfas Pay?

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Pays Different Amounts to Students Depending on Their Needs and Circumstances:

  • Book Allowance: R5,200 per Year
  • Incidental/Personal Care Allowance: R2,900 per Year for Students in Catered Residences
  • Accommodation: R24,000 per Year in An Urban Area, R18,900 per Year in A Peri-Urban Area, and R15,750 per Year in A Rural Area
  • Transport: R7,350 per Year for Up to 40 Km from The Institution
  • Tuition: Paid to Universities

TVET College Application Periods

NSFAS TVET College application periods align with the academic calendar for students applying for funding based on their intended registration cycle.

  • Trimester 2: Opens 12 May 2026 and closes 23 May 2026.
  • Semester 2: Opens 14 July 2026 and closes 31 July 2026.
  • Trimester 3: Opens 8 September 2026 and closes 19 September 2026.

  • Provide all required information by completing the application form.
  • Upload and submit supporting documents
  • Ensure your application is completed and submitted before the deadline.
