I have matric level 3 life sciences and maths lit level 3 English level 5, did higher certificate with ufs and got 84% in maths lit ,psychology 54% and computer literacy 74% do I qualify for nursing?

    • Hi there, We cannot definitively tell you whether your qualifications are sufficient for nursing programs in South Africa. This is because nursing program requirements can vary depending on the specific institution and program you’re applying to. However, I can provide some information and resources to help you determine your eligibility:

      Minimum Requirements:

Matric: Most nursing programs require a Matric certificate with specific subject passes and minimum marks. In general, English Home Language or First Additional Language (Level 5 or higher), Mathematics (Level 4 or higher), and Life Sciences (Level 4 or higher) are mandatory.

Post-Matric Qualifications: Some programs may accept applicants with post-matric qualifications like higher certificates or diplomas in relevant fields, but they often require specific content coverage and minimum marks.

      Your Qualifications:

Your Matric results meet the minimum English and Life Sciences requirements, but not Mathematics. While your Maths Lit mark in the Higher Certificate is good, it’s unclear if the program was recognized by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Your Higher Certificate seems relevant, but the psychology mark falls below the typical minimum requirement for science-related subjects.

      Recommendations:

Contact the Nursing Programs: The best way to determine your eligibility is to contact the specific nursing programs you’re interested in. Provide them with your detailed academic record and inquire about their entrance requirements.

South African Nursing Council (SANC): Visit the SANC website (https://www.sanc.co.za/) for official information on nursing education and registration requirements.

Higher Education South Africa (HESA): The HESA website (https://www.dhet.gov.za/) provides information on accredited higher education institutions and programs in South Africa.
