Second chances are given to parents and guardians to find placement for their children going to grades 1 and 8 from 15 December 2023 to 21 July 2024 for the 2024 academic year.
School administration has realised that the Gauteng population has made it almost impossible to make a placement at, thus parents are encouraged to apply on time and submit the correct documentation to give their child a good chance of being placed at a school.
Placement offers will be sent to all who applied, therefore, parents and guardians will need to accept an offer of placement within 7 school days of receiving an offer of placement.

- Birth certificates
- Any relevant medical records
- Special needs documentation for learners who require additional support.
How To Apply Online For Gauteng School
Here are the steps to apply online for placement in Gauteng schools in South Africa.
- Go to the GDE Admissions website
- Register an account
- Fill in current home address details
- Fill in the parent’s work address details
- Fill in the learner’s details
- Complete the school application form online.
- Upload all documents by using the upload function on the system
PLEASE NOTE:
Once parents start their online application process, they will have to finish their application and go through every step in one sitting.
Every step of the application process will be confirmed through SMS for security and verification processes, and it is therefore important that parents provide a reliable cell phone number.
