CIBT Ghana Undergraduate Courses
The Institute offers the following undergraduate Programmes:
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management
- Bachelor of Science in Public Administration: Local Government, Public Administration, and Procurement and Chain Supply Management.
- Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies: Religious Studies and Church Administration
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
Definition of Programme
A program is any group of courses that may lead to the award of a certificate, a diploma or a degree.
Definition of Course
A course may be defined as a unit of study within a discipline or programme. In each semester, students will study a number of courses in their chosen programmes.
Credit/ Unit/ Hours
- Each course in a programme is given a value (weight) on the basis of the number of hours per week that the class meets with the lecturer for purposes of lectures, tutorials or practicals, throughout a semester.
- The allowable credits for a course shall be a minimum of two, and a maximum of three credits for undergraduate programmes.
Course Credit Requirements
- One [1] course credit shall be defined as one hour lecture plus one-hour tutorial or one practical session per week for a semester.
- The programmes shall have the following ranges:
- Level 100 30 – 36 credits
- Level 200 30 – 36 credits
- Level 300 30 – 36 credits
- Level 400 30 – 36 credits
- Total 120 – 144 credits
- Diploma holders shall be placed at Level 200 of the 4-year degree programme
Course Load
- At the beginning of each semester, students shall register for the courses they will study during the semester. The total credits for all the courses registered by a student constitute his/her course load.
- Each undergraduate student may be allowed to carry, in a semester, a minimum of 15 credit hours and a maximum of 18 credit hours or a total of 30-36 credit hours in the academic year. for undergraduate programmes.
- However, the maximum and minimum credit points peculiar to certain programmes shall be determined by the Faculties, through the Academic Planning Committee, approved by the Academic Board.
