DUT Undergraduate and Postgraduate Applications
All applications for undergraduate and most postgraduate programs at DUT must be submitted through the Central Applications Office (CAO).
The CAO application can be done in three ways as follows;
CAO Online Application:
- Visit the CAO website (https://cao.ac.za/IDLookup.aspx)
- Select and enter ID Number and Passport Number
- Follow the prompts till completion
CAO Mobile App:Â Download the CAO app on your mobile device and follow the app’s instructions.
Hard Copy:
- Download and print the application form from the DUT website (https://www.dut.ac.za/apply-4/)
- Fill and complete it manually
- Mail it to the CAO address provided.
DUT Application Timeline
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Applications for the 2024 intake usually close on 30 September. However, it’s recommended to apply earlier, especially for competitive programs, as applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
DUT Application Requirements
The specific requirements will vary depending on your chosen program. However, they generally include:

- Certified copies of your academic transcripts and qualifications.
- Your South African ID or birth certificate.
- Proof of residency (if applicable).
- A recent passport-sized photograph.
- A signed declaration.

DUT Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee that must be paid when submitting your application.
- South African citizens:Â R250
- International applicants:Â R300
- Hard copy form:Â An additional R50 processing fee applies.
DUT International Applicants
If you are applying from outside South Africa, the process is slightly different.

DUT Postgraduate Studies in Specific Fields
For certain postgraduate programs (Masters and Doctoral degrees), the application process may involve directly contacting the relevant Head of Department. This is typically done for research-based programs where you need to discuss your potential research topic and supervisor availability.
