How to Apply for a Teaching Job in South Africa
Register with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) once you’ve completed your studies to be officially recognized as a qualified teacher.

To apply to teaching work in South Africa, all educators must register with the South African Council for Educators (SACE), and the steps to apply for teaching jobs through SACE are listed below;
- Completed SACE Application Form: Download the application form from the SACE website and fill it out.
- Certified Documents: You’ll need certified copies of your:
- Educational Qualifications (diploma, degree etc.) related to teaching.
- Identity Document (ID)
- Recommendation Letter: An original letter from a potential or current employer on official letterhead with a signature and stamp. Faxed or emailed versions are not accepted.
- Registration Fee: The fee depends on your citizenship:
- R200 for South African Citizens
- R400 for Non-South African Citizens.
IMPORTANT:
- Gather all the required documents mentioned above, including the completed application form.
- Ensure you have the appropriate registration fee ready.
- SACE does not accept online applications. Mail your complete application package with all documents and the fee to the address provided on the application form.
