Courses Offered at Netcare Education

HIGHER CERTIFICATE IN NURSING (REGULATION 169):

  • Duration: 1 year (full-time)​
  • Description: This program prepares students for the role of auxiliary nurses, equipping them with foundational nursing skills.​

Admission Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent with:
    • English: minimum 40%
    • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: minimum 40%
    • Life Sciences: minimum 40%

DIPLOMA IN NURSING (REGULATION 171):

  • Duration: 3 years (full-time)​
  • Description: This comprehensive program prepares students for general nursing practice, encompassing a wide range of healthcare competencies.​

Admission Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent with:
    • English: minimum 40%
    • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: minimum 40%
    • Life Sciences: minimum 40%
    • Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3
    • One additional subject with a minimum of 40% from the designated subject list as outlined in policy 751 of 2008 of the Department of Education
    • Alternatively, candidates with a relevant health-related qualification at NQF Level 3 or 4 (e.g., Auxiliary Nurse or Enrolled Nurse) may be considered.

Netcare Fee Structure

Below are the fees payable at the Netcare Education

  • Application Fee: A non-refundable fee of R490.00 is payable upon application. ​
  • Pre-Selection Assessment Fee: An additional fee of R380.00 is required for the pre-selection assessment. ​
  • Tuition Fees: For self-funding students in 2024, the tuition fee for undergraduate nursing programs is R64,480.00 per annum. ​
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): A non-refundable administrative fee of R2,999.00 is applicable for RPL applications. ​

Application Procedure

Applications are processed through KR Education, the official partner of Netcare Education.​

  • Application Period: Applications for the 2026 intake open in January 2025.

Submit certified copies of the following documents:​

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12 certificate)
  • Identity Document or passport/study permit/asylum seeker permit
  • South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration certificates, if applicable
  • Ensure all documents are SAPS certified. ​
  • Pre-Selection Assessment:
  • Eligible applicants will be notified of the assessment date and arrangements.​

  • A fee of R380.00 is payable for this assessment. ​
  • International Applicants: Non-South African citizens must provide proof of legal residence and study permits. ​

Selection and Admission:

  • Admission is based on meeting entry requirements, assessment performance, and available capacity.​
  • Due to limited spaces, meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.​
  • Successful candidates will be informed of their acceptance and further enrollment procedures.​
