The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and Postbank have extended the deadline for replacing SASSA Gold Cards with the new Postbank Black Cards to 20 March 2025.
Initially, beneficiaries were advised to replace their Gold Cards by 28 February 2025.
However, due to challenges such as long queues and system issues, the deadline has been extended to provide beneficiaries additional time to make the transition.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to switch to the new Postbank Black Cards as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted grant access. After 20 March 2025, the Gold Cards will no longer function for transactions, including cash withdrawals, balance inquiries, or retail purchases.
SASSA Gold Cards Replacement Site
To facilitate the card replacement process, Postbank has set up card replacement sites at various retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Boxer, and Pick n Pay stores nationwide.
Beneficiaries can locate the nearest card replacement site by dialling *120*218*3# on their cell phones and following the prompts.
