The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced increases in social grant payments, effective April 1, 2025.

Detailed Breakdown of Grant Increases
This breakdown includes information about the grant payments, read on.
Old Age Pension
RECIPIENTS UNDER 75 YEARS: The monthly grant will increase by R140, from R2,180 to R2,320 in April 2025. An additional R10 increment is scheduled for October 2025, bringing the total to R2,330.
RECIPIENTS 75 YEARS AND OLDER: These beneficiaries will receive an extra R20 per month on top of the standard old age grant, resulting in a total of R2,350 monthly after the October increment.
Disability Grant
The disability grant will increase from R2,180 to R2,320 in April 2025, with a further R10 increase in October 2025, totalling R2,330.
Child Support Grant
This grant will rise by R50, from R530 to R580 per month starting April 2025.
Foster Care Grant
Beneficiaries will see an increase of R80, with the grant amount rising from R1,120 to R1,200 per month in April 2025.
Care Dependency Grant
Aligning with the disability grant, this will also increase to R2,320 in April 2025, with an additional R10 in October 2025, totalling R2,330.
War Veterans Grant
This grant will increase from R2,200 to R2,340 in April 2025, with a further R10 increment in October 2025, bringing it to R2,350.
Grant-in-Aid
The grant-in-aid will see an increase from R480 to R500 per month starting April 2025.
COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant
This grant will remain at R350 per month.
