Stellenbosch University Admission Requirement

The management of Stellenbosch University has released the Requirements for this year’s admission process.

All applicants to either Undergraduates, Postgraduate, Diploma, or Masters programs must meet the following requirements to be considered suitable for enrolment.

Stellenbosch University Admission Requirement

Stellenbosch University in South Africa has specific admission requirements that vary depending on the program you are interested in. Here are the general admission requirements:

Undergraduate Programs

All intending applicants to the SU undergraduate programme should take note of the information below;

1. National Senior Certificate (NSC):
   • A valid National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi.
   • The NSC should include a minimum of seven subjects.
   • A minimum of 50% in four subjects from the designated list of subjects.
2. Matriculation Certificate:
   • A valid matriculation certificate, with full exemption.
3. Admission Points Score (APS):
   • Each program has a specific APS requirement. Calculate your APS using your NSC scores.
4. Language Requirement:
   • A minimum of 40% in the language of instruction (Afrikaans or English).

Postgraduate Programs

All intending applicants to the SU Postgraduate programme should take note of the information below;

1. Honours Degree:
   • A relevant bachelor’s degree.
   • Specific departmental requirements as per the chosen field of study.
2. Master’s Degree:
   • A relevant honours degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree.
   • Specific departmental requirements as per the chosen field of study.
3. Doctoral Degree:
   • A relevant master’s degree.
   • Specific departmental requirements as per the chosen field of study.

International Students

All International Student applicants should take note of the information below;

1. Equivalent Qualifications:
   • Qualifications equivalent to the South African NSC.
   • Proof of English language proficiency if English is not your first language.
2. Study Visa:
   • A valid study visa for the duration of the study period.
