Entry Requirement for Matric Students
- A National Senior Certificate with degree admission.
- English Home Language level 5 or English First Additional Language level 6.
- Mathematical Literacy level 5 or Mathematics level 3.
- Life Orientation level 4.
- Minimum composite Academic Point Score (APS) 32 not including Life Orientation.
Subjects Needed To Study Law In SA Universities?
The minimum requirement to study law is an NQF level 4 certificate, which is a National Senior Certificate or a Senior Certificate.

Admission Requirements to Study Law in SA
While most University’s admission requirements into studying law might be different some university’s admission is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.
A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Degree endorsement) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning,
OR a Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption or qualify for the exemption from the Matriculation Board with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning,
OR a Higher Certificate in Law or a Higher Certificate in Criminal Justice completed at a public or private higher education institution registered with the DHET with an average of at least 60%,
OR a 360-credit Diploma in Law or a 360-credit diploma in a related field completed at NQF level 6 at a public or private higher education institution registered with the DHET.
OR a B Iuris, B Proc, B Com in Law or BA Law degree completed at a public or private higher education institution registered with the DHET.
Applicants who do not comply with the above requirements should consider applying for the Diploma or Higher Certificate for which they meet the statutory and additional requirements.

STEP 5: Pay Application Fees
STEP 6: Track Your Application
STEP 7: Prepare for Possible Entrance Exams or Interviews
STEP 8: Await Admission Results
STEP 9: Apply for Student Visa (If Applicable)
