  2. Never use a social security number as a Password this is because Hackers have become expert at decrypting social security numbers.
  3. It is advisable to use a password with a mix of at least six mixed-case alphabetic characters.
  4. Avoid using easy-to-identify – and therefore easy-to-hack
  5. You may also choose to change your password regularly for security reasons

How to Change/Reset TUT Student Portal Login Password

To manage your TUT password, please follow these steps:

Steps to reset your account:

  • ​​​Go to Start, Internet Explorer ​or Click open any browser
  • Type in https://tut4life.tut.ac.za
  • Click on “Reset My Password”
  • Enter your student and ID number then click on Submit
  • Now change your password to your own password. Please note that you have to follow all the Password Rules listed on the screen!
  • Now select a new password. Please note the following password criteria
  • Confirm your new password then wait for 2 minutes for the password to synchronise, then you can access your email.

Password Criteria​

  • Password must contain characters from four of the following categories:
    • Uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • Lowercase characters (a through z)​
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Special characters: ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;”‘<>,.?/​
  • Password must contain at least 8 characters and a maximum of 16
  • Your student number may not appear in your password
  • Password may not consist of 4 consecutive numerical
  • Password must not contain the user’s account name (full names and surname)

  1. I have been to reset password for weeks now and it shows that they are technical difficulties. I dont know what to do anymore because i want to fill in application forms.

  2. They can’t reset my password due to technical issues. I need to upload my proof of payment before the closing date. is there another way of uploading documents like sending an email?
