Santander Bank offers a variety of options for sending and receiving international payments.

Accessing the International Payments Feature

  1. Log in to your Santander Online Banking account.
  2. Click on the “Payments” tab.
  3. Select “International Payments” from the options.

Initiating an International Payment:

  1. Choose the recipient’s country.
  2. Enter the recipient’s bank details, including their name, bank name, account number, and IBAN (International Bank Account Number).
  3. Enter the amount you want to send.
  4. Select the currency you want to send the money in.
  5. Review the transaction details and fees.
  6. Click “Submit” to send the payment.

Tips for Making International Payments:

  • Start your transaction early if you need the money to arrive by a certain date.
  • Double-check the recipient’s bank details before you submit your transaction.
  • Be aware of the fees and exchange rates before you send your payment.
  • Consider using a money transfer service if you need to send money to a country that Santander does not have a direct relationship with.

How to Receive an International Payment

To do this, you’ll need the following.

  1. Santander’s BIC (Bank Identifier Code, also known as SWIFT code). Which is ABBYGB2LXXX
  2. Your IBAN (International Bank Account Number). You can see it if you add your sort code and account number below. You’ll also find it on your statements and in Online Banking.

How to send an international payment

Make sure you have the correct details for the person you’re paying, including:

  1. their full name and account number or IBAN.
  2. their bank’s BIC.
  3. any routing code or other information required by the destination country.
  4. for Mexican peso payments, the beneficiary’s 18-digit CLABE account number.

The simplest way to send an international payment is to use Online Banking. To do this, simply:

  1. log onto Online Banking
  2. go to the ‘Payments & Transfers’ tab
  3. click ‘International payments’ in the left-hand menu
  4. follow the on-screen instructions.

IMPORTANT:

If you’re sending money to companies overseas, Santander Bank will send you a one-time passcode (OTP) to the mobile phone number that’s registered for OTPs. They do this to increase your security online and help prevent fraud. You may also need your IBAN or BIC details depending on the destination of the payment.

How to Sign Up for Santander Bank Online Banking

  1. Visit the Santander Bank website: https://www.santanderbank.com/.
  2. Click on the “Login” button in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click on “First Time User? Enroll now”.
  4. Enter your Social Security number or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and your account number.
  5. Click on “Continue”.
  6. You will then be prompted to create a new User ID and Password. Make sure to choose a strong password that is difficult to guess.
  7. You will also need to choose a security question and answer. This will be used to verify your identity if you ever forget your password.
  8. Once you have entered all of your information, click on “Submit”.
  9. You will then receive a One-Time Passcode (OTP) on your registered cell phone. Enter the OTP in the space provided and click “Continue”.
  10. You are now enrolled in Santander Online Banking! You can now log in using your new User ID and Password.

Mobile App:

  1. Download the Santander Bank mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the app and tap on “Enroll Now”.
  3. Enter your Social Security number or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and your account number.
  4. Click on “Continue”.
  5. You will then be prompted to create a new User ID and Password. Make sure to choose a strong password that is difficult to guess.
  6. You will also need to choose a security question and answer. This will be used to verify your identity if you ever forget your password.
  7. Once you have entered all of your information, click on “Submit”.
  8. You will then receive a One-Time Passcode (OTP) on your registered cell phone. Enter the OTP in the space provided and click “Continue”.
  9. You are now enrolled in Santander Online Banking! You can now log in using your new User ID and Password.

Here Are Some Additional Tips for Signing up For Santander Online Banking:

  • Make sure you have a valid email address and phone number associated with your account.
  • Choose a strong password that is at least 8 characters long and includes a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Do not share your User ID or Password with anyone.
  • Be careful about phishing scams. Santander will never ask you for your personal information via email or text message.
