UENR Admission Requirements 2024/2025

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) admission requirement for all the courses at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate level has been released for the 2024/2025 academic session.

SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY
Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, and Extension
  1. MBA/MPhil Agribusiness Management 

Admission Requirements

  • To be eligible for admission into the MBA/MPhil Agribusiness Management programme, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. Agribusiness, agriculture, natural resource management, economics, development studies, accounting and commerce, business administration, natural resources management, etc). Applicants must attend and pass a selection interview to be conducted by the Department.
Department of Horticulture and Crop Production
  1. MSc/MPhil Crop Science (with options in Post-harvest technology, Pathology, Agronomy and Entomology)

To be eligible for admission into the MSc/MPhil Crop Science programme, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field.

iii. PhD Crop Science (with options in Post-harvest technology, Pathology, Agronomy and Entomology

To be eligible for admission into the PhD Crop Science programme, applicants must possess a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. Applicants must attend and pass a selection interview to be conducted by the Department. All prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact a faculty member and discuss their identified research topic for possible supervision before proceeding with the application.

Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering

Admission Requirements:

  1. M.Sc. Environmental Engineering Management

To be eligible for admission into the M.Sc. Environmental Engineering Management programme, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field. Applicants must attend and pass a selection interview to be conducted by the Department.

All prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact a faculty member and discuss their identified research topic for a possible supervision before proceeding with the application.

  1. M.Sc. Sustainable Energy Management

iii.  PhD Environmental Engineering Management

To be eligible for admission into the PhD Environmental Engineering Management programme, applicants must possess a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field. Applicants must attend and pass a selection interview to be conducted by the Department.

  1. PhD Sustainable Energy Management

To be eligible for admission into the PhD Sustainable Energy Management programme, applicants must possess a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. Applicants must attend and pass a selection interview to be conducted by the Department.

Department and Mathematics and Statistics
  1. MPhil Applied Mathematics

To be eligible for admission into the MPhil Applied Mathematics Programme, applicants must possess a good first degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field of mathematical sciences (eg. Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc).

Department of Computer Science and Informatics
  1. MSc. Computer Science

To be eligible for admission into the MSc. Computer Science Programme, applicants must possess a BSc. degree or its equivalent in Computer Sciences, or any related discipline from an accredited University with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division. Applicants must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity for independent work, maturity, effective decision making and problem-solving potentials. In exceptional cases, holders of BSc. Computer Science with a minimum of Third-Class and at-least three years’ relevant working experience would be considered.

  1. MPhil Computer Science

To be eligible for admission into the MPhil Computer Science Programme, applicants must possess a BSc. Degree or its equivalent in Computer Sciences, or any related discipline from an accredited University with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division. Applicants must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity for independent work, maturity, effective decision making and problem-solving potentials.

          iii. PhD Computer Science

To be eligible for admission into the PhD Computer Science Programme, applicants must possess an MPhil in Computer Science or its equivalent from an accredited University. Applicants must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity for independent work, maturity, effective decision making and problem-solving potentials. Applicants with qualifications from Science and Engineering backgrounds with a strong Computing and Mathematical background may be considered. Candidates from other disciplines will have to take up most of the MPhil Computer Science course to prepare them for the PhD Programme.

 SCHOOL OF GEOSCIENCES
Department of Planning and Sustainability
  1. MSc/MPhil Environmental Planning and Development

To be eligible for admission into the MSc/MPhil Environmental Planning and Development Programme, applicants must possess a good first degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. environmental planning, planning, development studies, environmental studies, geography, economics, natural resources management, etc). Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year post qualification working experience and will be required to go through  a selection interview to be organised by the Department.

Department of Geographic Science
  1. MSc/MPhil Climate Change

To be eligible for admission into the MSc/MPhil Climate Change Programme, applicants must possess a good first degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Geography, Geophysics, Planning, Land Economy, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Sciences, Natural Resources, etc.). Holders of Bachelors degree with a minimum of two (2) years’ working experience may be considered for admission. Holders of post graduate diploma certificates with excellent classification may be admitted. Applicants may go through a selection interview to be organised by the Department.

SCHOOL OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Department of Forest Science
  1. MPhil Social Forestry and Environmental Governance

To be eligible for admission into the MPhil Social Forestry and Environmental Governance programme, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in the relevant field of study from a recognized institution. The applicant shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. natural resources, planning, social science, human geography & Agriculture). Excellent candidates may be admitted into research masters programme in the first instance and later upgraded into the PhD programme after sucessful completion of the course work with GPA of 3.65 and upon recommendations from the Supervisor and Departmental Board.
