The Machakos University, Students applying to Undergraduates, Postgraduate, Diploma, Masters programs, etc must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for admission.

Agricultural Sciences Undergraduate Entry Requirements
- KCSE Minimum Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Geography and Mathematics.
OR
- Mean Grade C+ (Plus) at KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Agricultural Education or related Agricultural Course
Agricultural Sciences Diploma Entry Requirements
- KCSE Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) must have C+ in Agriculture
Business & Economics Undergraduate Entry Requirements
- KCSE Minimum Mean Grade C+ (Plus) with C (plain) in Mathematics and English
Business & Economics Diploma Entry Requirements
- KCSE Mean Grade of C (Plain) or
- Certificate in PSCM or KCE Div.III
Education Undergraduate Entry Requirements
Bachelor of Education(Arts)
- Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE OR equivalent with at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE OR equivalent with a Diploma in Education and at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects.
Bachelor of Education(Science)
- Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE or equivalent with at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects and C+ (plus) in Mathematics OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Education and at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects.
Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education
- Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE or equivalent OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in ECDE or its equivalent with an overall pass of credit or distinction.
Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education
- Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE or equivalent with at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Education OR Special Education and at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects.
Education Diploma Entry Requirements
Diploma in Education (Science)
- KCSE Mean Grade of C+ with at least C+ in two teaching Subject
- And at least C- (Minus) in Mathematics
Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education
- KCSE Mean Grade of C (Plain) OR Division III at KCE OR Mean Grade C-(Minus) or an Early Childhood Studies Certificate from a recognized Institution.
Diploma in Education (Arts)
- KCSE Mean Grade of C+ with at least C+ in two teaching Subject
- And at least D+ (Plus) in Mathematics

Diploma in Education (Science)
- KCSE Mean Grade of C+ with at least C+ in two teaching Subject
- And at least C- (Minus) in Mathematics
Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education

Environmental Management Undergraduate Entry Requirements
- KCSE Minimum Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent with at least C+(Plus) in Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Geography and Mathematics
OR
- Mean Grade C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent with at least credit pass in an environmental-related course from a recognized/accredited institution.
Health Sciences Undergraduate Entry Requirements
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent with at least C+ in the following subjects, Mathematics or physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, or Kiswahili
Hospitality & Tourism Undergraduate Entry Requirements
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent with at least C+(plus) or equivalent in any three (3) of the following subjects: English/Kiswahili/Foreign Languages; Biology/Biological Sciences; Chemistry/Physical Sciences/Physics; Mathematics;
OR
- C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Hospitality Management from a recognized institution.

- C+ for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders or its equivalent as determined by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC)
- KNEC Diploma or its equivalent
Bachelor of Science in Community Resource Management
- C+ for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders or its equivalent as determined by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), KNEC Diploma, or its equivalent
- KCSE Minimum Mean Grade C+ (Plus) with at least C+(Plus) in Art and Design or Home Science or anyone science Subject OR mean grade of C(Plain)at KCSE or equivalent with a diploma of at least credit pass in Fashion design or Clothing technology from a recognized institution OR mean grade of C-(Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma of at least a credit pass in Fashion design or clothing technology from a recognized institution.
Bachelor of Science in Fashion, Design, and Marketing

Machakos university postgraduate admission requirement
Entry requirements for Postgraduate Diploma Courses
- Admission and conduct of postgraduate programs shall be conducted under the provisions of the general postgraduate regulations.
- The following shall be eligible for admission into a postgraduate diploma program in the University:
- Holders of a Bachelor’s degree from Machakos University and other Universities recognized by the MKSU Senate,
Entry requirements for Masters Courses
- Holders of a Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Honours [Upper Division] or higher) from the institution or other universities recognized by the University Senate with 2 years experience.
- Holders of a postgraduate diploma (credit level or higher) from MKSU or other institutions recognized by the University Senate.
Entry requirements for Doctorate Courses
- A holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent from a University or other institution recognized by the University Senate.
