As of the 6th of December, the management of the University of Johannesburg released the new fee structure for undergraduates, postgraduate, Honours degrees, postgraduate diplomas and international students.
The University, after several consultations with the University 2023 Student Representative Council, and in consultation with the Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology, has decided to adjust both the tuition, residence fees and the first minimum upfront payment required for registration for the 2024 academic year as follows:
- Tuition fees – 5.1% increase across the board
- Residence fees – 7.1% increase across the board
- Minimum initial payment for registration – R5 560.00
- Minimum initial payment for residence registration – R3 710.00
- Refundable residence deposit – R1 220.00 (no changes)
The fee increase adjustment for tuition as in the above applies to formal programmes only.
The increase for short-learning programmes varies per faculty. Therefore, for the fees of the short-learning programmes, please do not hesitate to contact the respective faculties for information.
